Vangelis G. Manolopoulos SHORT BIO
Dr Vangelis G. Manolopoulos is professor and director of the laboratory of Pharmacology at the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace in Alexandroupolis, Greece and also directs the Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenetics Unit of the Academic Hospital of Evros. Ηe holds a PhD from the Medical School of Patras University, Greece (1991) and did pre- and postdoctoral work at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands (1989-90), the University of Wisconsin, USA (1992-1996) and at the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium (1996-1998). He has authored more than 110 scientific publications, with more than 2700 citations, and H Index 29. He was the Principal Investigator for Greece of the European Consortium for the pharmacogenetics of anticoagulation (EU-PACT). He participates in several consortia on pharmacogenetics including the European Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (EU-PIC) and the global Pharmacogenomics in Childhood Asthma (PICA) consortium. He is the president-elect of the European Society for Pharmacogenomics and Personalised Therapy (ESPT). Also, he is the president of the Greek Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (GSP) and a regular evaluator of FP7, HORIZON and COST grants. Finally, he is the Associate Editor of the journal Drug Metabolism and Personalized Therapy, the official journal of ESPT.
